UK Lidl stores go wind-powered

Lidl to power 15% of UK operations with offshore wind

Lidl signed a five-year PPA with RWE to source renewable electricity from the Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea, covering just over 15% of its UK electricity needs. The deal supplies around 100 GWh of wind power annually to Lidl GB’s operations and forms part of the retailer’s broader push to decarbonise its energy use. The arrangement builds on existing collaboration between Lidl and RWE in other European markets and supports Lidl’s expansion of renewable energy across its UK stores, distribution centres and logistics network.
