I’m voting in the European Elections on 6-9 June 2024. Are you?
- The EU in general – and the European Parliament in particular – make laws that impact the growth of renewables in Europe.
- Recently, the European Parliament has played a crucial role in setting into law the EU’s commitment to become climate neutral by 2050 and the new legally binding target of 42.5% of renewables in the EU’s final energy consumption by 2030.
- But this is not a given. The new European Parliament could end up being much less in favour of renewables than the current one if we don’t turn out to vote.
- Every vote counts. The higher the turnout, the more likely we will get a Parliament that reflects the pro-renewables views of most Europeans. You, your family, your friends, your colleagues can all make a difference.
- Enhancing our energy security by deploying more local energy. Strengthening our national security by making us less dependent on unreliable energy suppliers – and building infrastructure that’s cyber and data secure. Bringing local jobs, investments, and community benefits, especially in rural and coastal areas. Protecting the natural environment and biodiversity. And of course, helping fight climate change.
- Like our industry does every day, let’s show our support for the values Europe stands for. Let’s make sure we all vote in the European elections in June.
